What is Liqueur?
Liqueur descendant of herbal medicines, made in Italy in the early 13th century and often made by monks, it's an alcoholic drink composed of spirits and additional spices, herbs, sugar, and fruits, liqueurs generally contain alcohol level of 15% to 30% which is lower than spirits and it has sweetener mixed, while some may have alcohol level as high as 55%.
How is Liqueur made?
Any type of flower, herb, or fruit when mixed with any spirits like Whiskey, Gin, Rum, Vodka, Wine, Brandy, and Cognac liqueur is sweetened and un-aged spirits beyond a resting period during production and before blending of the flavors.
Complex and sweet flavors like Honey liqueur, Irish cream liqueur, Coffee liqueur, Chocolate liqueur, and Nuts and Almond liqueur. Some distillers use Elderflower or other Flower liqueur products and have a unique variety of liqueur to choose from.
Liqueur vs Liquor?
Many people get confused about liqueur or liquor, Both are different because liquor is an alcoholic drink produced by the distillation of grains, fruits, vegetables, or sugar, that have already gone through alcoholic fermentation. While liqueur is an alcoholic drink composed of rectified spirit and additional flavorings such as sugar, fruits, herbs, and spices. But don't confuse it with Soju and Baijiu.
What are Soju and Baijiu?
Soju is a colorless distilled alcoholic beverage with an alcoholic content of 12.9% to 53% originated in Korea, soju is a traditional drink made from rice wheat, or barley, Soju often appears similar to several other East Asian Liqueur while differing in alcohol contents. Soju is also available in multiple fruit flavors.
While Baijiu is also a clear Liqueur usually distilled from fermented sorghum, although other grains may be used for making Baijiu, it's also known as Shaojiu, is a Chinese colorless typically coming in between 35% to 60% alcohol by volume.
What is Schnapps?
Schnapps is a type of alcoholic beverage that may take several forms, including distilled fruit brandies, herbal and spices liqueurs, infusions, and flavored liqueurs made by adding fruit syrups, or artificial flavorings to neutral grain spirits.
