Antiguo de Herradura Reposado Tequila is a traditional reposado tequila from Mexico, with 40% alcohol by volume (ABV) (80 Proof). Distilled from 100% blue Weber agave, it represents Herradura's heritage of craftsmanship, created in 1924 as the estate tequila served to family and guests at Casa Herradura, and later released to the public in 1995.
What makes it special is its shorter maturation compared to Herradura's flagship reposado. Antiguo Reposado is aged for 4 months in used American oak bourbon barrels, and carbon filtration after aging mellows the spirit, resulting in a lighter color and a smoother flavor profile. This process preserves the purity of agave while adding subtle oak complexity.
The profile is approachable and balanced, with a medium body that highlights the natural sweetness of cooked agave alongside gentle spice and wood notes. Best enjoyed neat or on the rocks to appreciate its smoothness, but also versatile in cocktails such as margaritas or palomas. It pairs well with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, and spicy Mexican dishes, making it an excellent choice for gatherings.
