Asombroso The Collaboration 12 Year Old Silver Oak Collection Extra Anejo Tequila is an extra anejo tequila from Asombroso in Jalisco, Mexico, bottled at 40 alcohol by volume (ABV) and 80 proof. It is made from Tequilana Weber agave, distilled twice, then aged in a double-barrel process that includes extended maturation in new French oak, followed by finishing in American oak Cabernet Sauvignon wine casks from Silver Oak Cellars. The tequila is produced from cooked agave, roller-milled extraction, closed stainless-steel fermentation without fibers, and distillation in stainless-steel stills with copper coils, with deep-well estate water used during production. This long, layered aging process highlights the interaction between mature tequila and wine-seasoned oak, allowing Cabernet-influenced barrel character to integrate with the aged agave spirit. The process and profile emphasize oak-driven depth, combined with fruit and wine-barrel notes, shaping a tequila defined by extended wood contact, double-barrel resting, and a smooth, developed structure.
Asombroso The Collaboration 12 Year Old Silver Oak Collection Extra Anejo Tequila can be enjoyed neat or sipped slowly to experience its aged profile. It pairs well with dark chocolate, roasted nuts, aged cheeses, and decadent desserts. It is well-suited as an after-dinner pour or as a gifting option for collectors, and it is certified kosher with no additives. This tequila received 97 points from Tasting Panel Magazine, recognizing its depth, complexity, and length, and it is presented in a crystal decanter handmade by Italian artist Luciano Gambaro on the island of Murano.
