During Prohibition in the United States, a bartender at Club 21 in Manhattan combined brandy with Benedictine, creating a drink that would become a classic. In 1937, Le Palais Benedictine began producing this blend by mixing 60% Benedictine with 40% fine French Brandy, allowing the flavors to rest and harmonize in small vintage French oak barrels that were previously used to age the finest cognacs.
