    Product Description

Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 10 Year Old is a distinguished single malt Scotch whiskey crafted at the Bruichladdich Distillery on the Isle of Islay in Scotland. This renowned distillery is celebrated for its commitment to traditional whiskey making methods and its dedication to producing high quality spirits. The whiskey is made from 100% Scottish barley, which undergoes a meticulous malting process to achieve a robust peat level of 40 ppm (parts per million). The making process begins with carefully selecting barley, followed by malting and fermenting in traditional wooden washbacks. The fermented mash is then distilled in tall, narrow necked stills, contributing to the whiskey's unique character and complexity. After distillation, the spirit is aged for ten years in a combination of first fill American whiskey casks, second fill American whiskey casks, and second fill French wine casks. This diverse cask selection allows the whiskey to develop a rich and multifaceted flavor profile with 50% alcohol by volume (ABV).

Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 10 Year Old is known for its deep and smoky essence due to the heavy peating combined with the influences of the various cask types used during aging. The whiskey is celebrated for its balance of intense peat smoke and delicate maritime notes, making it a quintessential Islay whiskey. For the best experience, enjoy this whiskey neat or with a drop of water to release its intricate flavors. Food pairings for Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 10 Year Old include rich and savory dishes such as smoked meats, aged cheeses, and grilled seafood, complementing the whiskey's bold profile. The whiskey pairs beautifully with dark chocolate desserts, enhancing its complex and smoky character.

    Tasting Notes

    Color: Primrose to Citrine.

Aroma: The smoke is calmed by the marine ozone character. While the smoke is always discernible on the nose, it is dry and earthy in its style, allowing the oak to come forward with waves of golden caramel, fudge, vanilla custard, and hints of ginger, nutmeg, and clove. A citrus fruit is coaxed from the glass with a drop of water, gentle lemon meringue, and clementine. Breathe profoundly, and the floral aromas of wild thyme, heather, and sea pink transport you to the Atlantic coast.

Palate: The palate has a noticeable delicacy and softness in texture and style. Again, the balance of flavor is superb as the smoke wraps loosely around the sweetness drawn from deep within the oak. Coconut, vanilla custard, lemon honey combine with smoked oysters and sun baked salty sand.

Finish: The finish is sublime. Smoky, sure, but with the soft sweetness of fudge and malted barley. Orange, mango, and Banoffee pie signal the depth and quality of the oak. The many layers interchange on each sip. As the smoke comes and goes, so do the ripe apple and apricot notes, beautifully intertwined with malt and oak sweetness and that typical Port Charlotte style dry smoke.
