Chateau Chemin Royal Moulis-en-Medoc originates from the vineyards of Chateau Fonreaud, a historic estate whose name means "Royal Spring," tied to the legend of King Henry VIII stopping at the site in the 11th century. Situated at the highest point of the Medoc at 43 meters above sea level, the 10.5-hectare vineyard is planted on gravel, clay, and limestone soils that shape the wine's character. Produced from 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, the grapes are harvested parcel by parcel, gently crushed, and fermented in small temperature-controlled tanks for 20 to 25 days. The wine is then aged for 12 months in merrian oak barrels, 30% of which are new, allowing structure and complexity to develop. Bottled at 13.5% alcohol by volume (ABV), this Cru Bourgeois Superieur reflects both heritage and the richness of its terroir.
The wine has received strong recognition, earning 92 points from Decanter and 90 points from Wine Enthusiast. Certified sustainable under the HEV program, the estate highlights a balance of traditional methods and modern environmental care. It pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, making it a classic expression of Bordeaux's Left Bank.
