Del Maguey San Luis del Rio Mezcal is one of the first two mezcals brought to the United States in 1995 by Ron Cooper, marking the beginning of the brand’s Single Village journey. Crafted in the remote pueblo of San Luis del Rio, located in a hot, narrow valley three hours south of Oaxaca, this mezcal is made from Espadin agave cultivated on steep mountain slopes along the Rio Hormiga Colorada. Distilled in copper stills, it showcases the traditional methods and authenticity of Oaxacan mezcal production.

Bottled at 47% alcohol by volume (ABV), 94 proof, and true to the Del Maguey tradition, it is designed to be sipped slowly and savored, not taken as a shot. On the nose, it delivers a spicy, fruity, and smoky aroma lifted with a bright citrus note. The palate is creamy, smooth, and warming, with flavors of roasted pineapple, mango, cocoa, dried chiles, and a hint of salinity, evolving into a long finish that features cigar smoke and abundant fruit.

Del Maguey San Luis del Rio Mezcal has earned international acclaim, receiving 95 points and the Tried & True Award at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge, as well as 96 points and an Extraordinary rating at the same competition. With its balance of spice, fruit, smoke, and citrus, this mezcal reflects the character of its region and the craftsmanship of generations of mezcaleros.
