Del Maguey Vida de Muertos Mezcal is a special edition inspired by the mezcal prepared in San Luis del Rio by Paciano Cruz Nolasco and his family for the traditional Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration. Hand-made from mature Espadin agave, it follows the same artisanal practices as all Del Maguey Single Village mezcals, using wood-fired stills and methods passed down through generations. Unlike seasonal batches, Vida de Muertos has become a permanent addition to the Del Maguey portfolio, honoring cultural tradition while being accessible year-round.

This mezcal opens with an aromatic nose of tropical fruit balanced by hints of warming spice. On the palate, it is creamy in texture, layered with floral notes, green herbs, and the subtle complexity of poblano peppers. The flavors evolve into a long and intricate finish that showcases minerality and depth. Bottled at 45% alcohol by volume (ABV), equal to 90 proof. As with all Del Maguey mezcals, it is meant to be sipped slowly, not shot, to fully appreciate its craft and complexity.

Del Maguey Vida de Muertos Mezcal has received high recognition, earning Gold from the Beverage Testing Institute in both 2022 and 2023, Double Gold at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC), and Gold at the 2023 TAG Global Spirits Competition. It has been awarded 94 and 95 points at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge across consecutive years, recognized by Wine Enthusiast with 93 points, and celebrated as the 2023 Best Agave Spirit in a Margarita. These accolades affirm its reputation as one of the finest artisanal mezcals, bringing together tradition, quality, and cultural heritage in every sip.
