Domaine des Fontnobles Gigondas comes from the small hamlet of Fontbonne in Vacqueyras, where the Bertrand family has upheld the Rhone winemaking tradition since the 15th century. The estate farms 40 hectares, including a high-altitude 5-hectare vineyard in Gigondas with stony clay-limestone soils and a western exposure that enhances concentration and complexity. Gigondas itself, whose name originates from the Latin word "Jocunditas", meaning joy, is a historic fortified village where wine has been made for centuries.
Produced from a blend of 50% Grenache, 45% Syrah, and 5% Cinsault, the grapes are handpicked, whole-cluster harvested, and fermented before aging in French oak barrels. With an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 15.5% ABV, it offers both depth and refinement. This wine has consistently earned praise from Jeb Dunnuck, with scores of 90-92 points for the year 2019, 91 points for 2020, and 89-91 points for 2021, reinforcing its strong reputation within the Gigondas appellation. This Gigondas pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, wild game, truffles, duck breast, or charcuterie, offering both versatility and elegance at the table.
