Dona Celia Reposado Tequila is crafted from 100% agave, sourced from the Jalisco region, specifically Los Altos and the Tequila Valley. It is produced by Destiladora Del Valle de Tequila S.A. de C.V. The agave is cooked in stone and brick ovens under high pressure and then crushed using a stone roller mill. The tequila is mixed with deep well water and fermented in stainless steel tanks. It undergoes double distillation in a stainless steel pot. It is aged six months in American white oak barrels with an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 40%.
The bottle for Tita Dona Celia Reposado tequila is designed to represent La Calavera Catrina, a prominent figure in Mexican folklore and Day of the Dead celebrations. The bottle is shaped like a skeletal doll, symbolizing Mexican heritage and craftsmanship. The La Calavera Catrina is a satirical image created by Mexican printmaker Jose Guadalupe Posada in 1910. Originally known as "La Calavera Garbancera," it mocked those who pretended to be of a higher class. The Catrina has become part of Dia de los Muertos imagery. She can be found in books, cartoons, posters, figurines, and artwork.
