    Product Description

Dona Paula El Alto Parcel Malbec is a limited-production wine sourced from a 1.3-hectare block of the El Alto Vineyard in Ugarteche, Lujan de Cuyo. Planted in 1971, the vines are a massal selection of old pre-phylloxeric Malbec from Vistalba, own-rooted and spaced at a low density of 1,850 plants per hectare. Located at 1,000 meters above sea level, the vineyard is situated on clay soils with pebbles and gravel at depth, which provides excellent drainage and concentration. Cool nights in this mild climate ensure slow ripening and sweet, ripe tannins.

Vinification takes place in small containers with a double sorting process for optimal fruit selection. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations occur under wild yeast in a temperature-controlled room, followed by post-fermentative maceration, which lasts 15 to 20 days. The wine is then aged for 20 to 22 months in 50% new French oak barrels, with all processes performed by gravity to preserve finesse.

With 14.8% alcohol by volume (ABV), it offers both depth and refinement. El Alto Parcel Malbec has received critical acclaim, earning 93 points from Tim Atkin, 94 points from James Suckling, and 92 points from Descorchados, which marks it as one of the finest expressions from Lujan de Cuyo. This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, grilled beef, mushroom-based dishes, or strong aged cheeses, making it a standout for refined dining.
