James E Pepper Decanter Barrel Proof Bourbon

The Decanter bottle is a recreation of a historic design first produced at the James Pepper Distillery in 1945. It was created to highlight the rich color of their whiskies, achieved through a lower barrel entry proof and the use of the finest cooperage. This release features unique blends of their oldest stocks and distinct mash bills consisting of corn, rye, malted barley, and malted rye. The whiskey is aged in new toasted and charred barrels made from Kentucky oak, air-seasoned for a minimum of 18–24 months, and sourced from the historic distillery well. Distilled and bottled at the James E. Pepper Distillery (DSP-KY-5) in Lexington, Kentucky, it carries an average age of 5.5 years and is bottled straight from the barrel, uncut and unfiltered. with 43% alcohol by volume (ABV).

Aroma: Toasted oak, walnuts, syrup, marzipan, anise.

Palate: Oak and dried dark fruits. Front end carries through with some extra notes of toasted oak and citrus peel.

Finish: Medium-long with strong notes of creamy vanilla and clove/nutmeg.
