Mata Hari Absinthe Bohemian

After nearly a century of prohibition, absinthe has returned to the United States. This infamous spirit can once again be enjoyed nationwide, although not all absinthes are created equal. The style most commonly associated with absinthe is French, characterized by a heavy anise (dark licorice) flavor and typically consumed in the traditional ritual with water and sugar, or occasionally as a substitute for bitters in cocktails. While exciting and distinctive, this strong anise profile has limited its appeal to those who enjoy that flavor. Bohemian-style absinthe, however, does not hail from France. Mata Hari absinthe follows a Bohemian recipe from Austria that has been in the Fischer family since 1881. While it shares the natural green color, grande wormwood, and louche effect of French-style absinthe, its flavor sets it apart. With far less emphasis on anise, Mata Hari offers a more approachable and desirable taste, whether enjoyed in the traditional ritual or in a wide range of cocktails. It is bottled at 60% alcohol by volume (ABV), 120 proof.
