Mezcal Nucano Espadin Anejo is an artisanal mezcal from San Dionisio, Oaxaca, crafted by third- and fourth-generation Maestro Mezcaleros. Made from 100% Espadin agave that matures for around 8 years before harvest, this mezcal is carefully double-distilled in small copper pot stills and then aged for 3 to 5 years in oak barrels. With an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 40%, it offers a refined balance of smoky depth and layered sweetness, reflecting both tradition and the effects of aging.
The extended barrel aging enriches its flavor profile, adding notes of cherry, toasted nuts, vanilla, coffee, caramel, and chocolate, all intertwined with gentle smokiness from the artisanal production process. Each bottle is numbered, reinforcing its authenticity and small-batch origins. The Nucano brand also honors Oaxacan culture through its name and story, while supporting local communities with educational programs for children.
This Anejo is best enjoyed neat to appreciate its complexity fully. Still, it pairs exceptionally well with rich foods such as barbecued meats, mole, roasted game, or dark chocolate desserts, where its smoky-sweet depth truly shines.
