Mezcal Nucano Tobala Joven is a rare, artisanal mezcal crafted from wild Tobala agaves that grow on the mountainsides of Oaxaca, requiring approximately 12 years to mature. Produced in San Dionisio by third- and fourth-generation Maestro Mezcaleros, it is created using traditional methods, roasting the agave hearts in underground ovens, crushing them with a Tahona stone, natural open-air fermentation in wooden vats, and double distillation in small copper pot stills. With an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 44.2%, this mezcal captures the elegance and complexity of the Tobala agave, offering a softer, more refined profile than other varietals.
The spirit reveals fruity and floral characteristics with a medium body and a round, smooth mouthfeel, accented by subtle smokiness from the roasting process. Each bottle is numbered, emphasizing its small-batch authenticity and dedication to heritage.
