Old Forester Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey

Old Forester Rye is a historic expression, crafted from a mash bill of 65% rye, 20% malted barley, and 15% corn, following a recipe acquired by Owsley Brown I in 1940. 

The high proportion of malted barley allows for an entirely natural fermentation without artificial enzymes, giving the whiskey a distinctive floral character that balances the bold, brisk spice of the rye grain. Each barrel is distilled with Old Forester's proprietary yeast and exacting standards, producing a consistent and exceptional rye bottled at 50% alcohol by volume (ABV) and 100 Proof. 

Rich aromas of brown sugar and magnolia blossom mingle with hints of soft sassafras and candied lemon, while the palate opens with sharp black pepper and cinnamon, rounded by dried dill and baked apple. The finish is dry and loyal, with allspice and peppercorns giving way to subtle notes of pine, anise, and bright lemon zest.
