RD One Bourbon Finished with Brazilian Amburana Wood

Amburana is a commonly harvested tree in South America. This was a discovery for RD1, a vessel-distilled spirits producer. Known as "Brazilian Oak," Amburana is traditionally used for essential oils, luxury furniture, and barrel aging Cachaca. RD1's partner cooperage employs a patented technique to honeycomb drill small holes into the Amburana staves, allowing more wood surface interaction with the bourbon. 

After aging RD1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey for over 4 years, the Amburana staves are added, infusing the spirit with its distinctive character. The result is a bourbon bursting with the best of baking spices - apple cinnamon, nutmeg, and light brown sugar, followed by notes of pine, vanilla, peaches, and apricots. The flavor is rich, with hints of spice cake and ginger snaps, and a long, warm finish layered with allspice and sweet oak. 

Bottled at 55% alcohol by volume (ABV) and 110 Proof, RD1 Amburana Bourbon has been recognized with top honors, including Platinum at the 2023 Ascot Awards by Fred Minnick, and Gold medals at the 2023 Denver International Spirits Competition, San Francisco International Spirits Competition, and SIP Awards.

Aroma: Baking spices, apple cinnamon, nutmeg, light brown sugar, pine, vanilla, peaches, and apricots.

Palate: Spice cake, ginger snaps, dark berry jam, herbal black tea, pineapple pepper.

Finish: Long, warm, with lingering allspice and sweet oak.
