The Salvestrins still live on the property and manage every aspect of the farming themselves, producing only about 5,500 cases annually; an approach that combines historic Dr. Crane soils with hands-on, small-family craftsmanship.

The wine is especially significant, marked by wildfires yet defined by rigorous selection from top producers who harvested early, tested extensively, and bottled only their highest-quality lots. The result is a low-yield, high-intensity wine with remarkable concentration and personality. Critics agree: it earned 92 points from Wine Spectator, 91 from Wine Enthusiast, who described it as youthful, muscular, and packed with red and dark fruit. 91 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, which praised its ripe cherry and raspberry character, medium-to-full body, refined tannins, and long finish.
