Travaglini Gattinara is a renowned wine from the Piedmont region of Italy, specifically from the Gattinara area near the foothills of Monte Rosa. The wine is primarily made from Nebbiolo grapes, known locally as Spanna, which thrive in the region's rocky soil rich in granite and iron. A small percentage of Vespolina and Uva Rara grapes are also used to add complexity and balance. The winemaking process follows traditional Piedmontese methods, including careful hand picking of the grapes, fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, and aging in large oak barrels for at least two years, with the Riserva variant aging for three years. The wine is bottled and aged for two more years before release, and it has 13.5% alcohol by volume (ABV). Travaglini Gattinara pairs beautifully with rich, hearty dishes such as braised meats, truffles, and aged cheeses, enhancing the flavors of both the food and the wine.
Color: Vintage and bright ruby red, attracting the eye with its delicate transparency.
Aroma: Soft floral aromas, from violets to rose petals, taking on spicy and balsamic notes over time. Its finish offers hints of minerals and iron at times.
Palate: Elegant with a balance between freshness, barely outlined noble tannins, and a subtle, infinite persistence of small red fruits, flowers, and fruit jellies.
